App of the week : Showfields Magic Wand

Showfields offers a genre-defying experience that’s part-retail store, and part-art exhibition. The store is also home to a revolving array of food, drink and community programming, aimed to facilitate deeper offline connections between brands and consumers. Showfields is located in NYC and a second store will open soon in Miami. 

In order to enhance the in-store experience and allow contactless shopping, an app called Showfields Magic Wand has been developed and launched at the store re-opening after de-confinement.  

While inside the store, you can use your phone to tap or scan a displayed object, and the app will provide additional information on it. The app will also allow customers to know the product prices, add them to a digital cart, and then check out without interacting with a store associate. Then, you can pick up a bag full of sanitized products on your way out.

Contactless shopping has been on the rise for many years now. It was first developed with the aim to remove friction when shopping. Nowadays it plays a big role in reassuring customers regarding sanitary measures.
