App of the week : Octoly App

Octoly is an app that lets nano and micro influencers test and review products with brands partnering with the app. Once approved as an influencers , you can decide what products you want to try, including clothing, makeup, skincare, perfume, and vitamins. After testing the products, the influencers can leave reviews across social media and eCommerce platforms.

It is a good app for both brands and small influencers allowing the first to get reviews and build a trust among the public and the second to get material for content creation. Influencer marketing is still a key factor for brand development and success. It has evolved a lot in the last few years and while it was reserved to big influencers with a wide following, brands are now also focusing on smaller ones with local reach.

Apps like Octoly are innovative in the sense that they allow a natural and mutual selection to operate between influencers and brands. However, offering free products to people doesn’t mean any products will do. Indeed when looking at the Octoly’s App Store reviews we can see that many influencers registered on the app are feeling disappointed by the selection of products offered.

Influencer marketing is clearly here to stay and will keep on evolving, so brands, agencies and apps will need to adapt and find ways to leverage the power of big and small influencers alike.
